Tri-Service General Hospital Songshan Branch, formerly the Air Force General Hospital and a pioneer in aviation medicine for the Air Force, has undergone several organizational reforms and has been incorporated into the overall military healthcare system. In response to changes in the healthcare environment and to align with government medical policies and aviation medicine missions, the hospital initiated the construction of a new medical building in 2018 with the support of the Executive Yuan, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Military Medical Bureau.

The new Aviation Medicine Building will be constructed within the existing campus area as a reinforced concrete (RC) structure with one basement level and ten above-ground floors, providing a total floor area of approximately 35,300 square meters. The design incorporates environmentally friendly and green energy concepts. In terms of spatial planning, the facility will include the Department of Aviation Medicine, a health examination center, an emergency department, an intensive care center, operating rooms, and 320 acute care general ward beds. The overall building design emphasizes comfort, clarity, energy efficiency, and smart technology, and will integrate an intelligent ward service system to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare across multiple specialties.

The Aviation Medicine Building Project represents the implementation of smart healthcare within the military medical system. In peacetime, it will provide high-quality medical services to military personnel and nearby residents, while in wartime it will effectively support combat readiness missions across various units. Looking ahead, the hospital’s medical team anticipates that the new facilities and advanced equipment will enhance healthcare services for military personnel, improve aviation medical capabilities, and safeguard both flight safety and the health of military and civilian communities in the region.
